Alaçatı, on Turkey's Çeşme peninsula, is one of the best-known windsurfing spots in the Eastern Mediterranean. Myga Surf City has been teaching windsurfing here since 2005, and since 2008 our school, rental centre and shop have been at Yumru Bay, right in the heart of the surf area.
Why Alaçatı?
- The meltemi: A steady northerly summer wind that blows along Turkey's west coast and the Greek islands.
- Flat water: The bay sits on the south side of the peninsula, so it catches the wind but not the open-sea waves.
- Shallow and sandy: You can stand in the water over a long distance, which makes learning far less tiring.
Lessons for every level
We teach windsurfing in four levels, from complete beginner to pro. Beginner lessons are taught in small groups split by level, and private lessons are available on request. Boards, sails, wetsuits and shoes are included in lessons. We use light monofilm sails for beginners, which are much easier to pull out of the water than heavy dacron sails. Our school is an official test centre for North Sails and Fanatic.
After your lessons
Practice with rental gear matched to your level, or store your own equipment with us for the season in ventilated lockers or open racks. Changing rooms, hot showers and sunbeds are on site. See Windsurf Lessons and Rental for details.
When to come
The meltemi is most consistent in summer, which is peak season. Spring and autumn bring quieter days; with a suitable wetsuit they are a great time to surf.
